Perfect From Now On: How Indie Rock Saved My Life
You know that grandpa character that gathers all of the grandkids around the rocking chair and tells them all those “when I was growing up” stories and makes frequent “what’s wrong with your generation” comments? Well, John Sellers is like a really awesome version of that grandpa; in Perfect from Now On, he bitches about corporate rock while enlightening readers to the indie rock that controls his life. Sellers has a penchant for lists, an undying love for the band Guided By Voices and an untouchable pride for the time he did the moonwalk in front of hundreds of his peers. Though what Sellers considers “indie” is highly debatable, the esteemed author exhibits music snobbery to the fullest—making sure his audience fully understands that he knows way more about the genre than they do.
