Paddle toward the light

Nothing says relaxing like paddling your little arms off.

Living in a city of trees has its advantages: shade from a blazing sun, lots of oxygen, melodious birds. But sometimes, living among the trees really messes everything up. When those chirping birds shit on your car or head, it’s not an awesome experience. Plus, if The Happening were to happen, it may very likely happen here. That said, it’s probably time for a short trip to experience what many canopy dwellers often miss—watching a sunset and the rise of the full moon. The Sacramento State Aquatic Center hosts sunset paddle classes through October. Participants set sail in a kayak on Lake Natoma to gaze at both the setting sun and rising moon. It’s a peaceful ride, so all skills levels are welcome. But if your balance or paddling sucks, be prepared to get a little wet.
