Artists Melanie Bown and Amy Greer have been plotting to bring downtown Sacramento a new contemporary art gallery, and this month, their Milk Gallery is finally born. Both long-time Sacramento residents “are deeply interested in strengthening and nurturing the artist- and art-supporting community that we have here in town,” Greer says. “So we’ll be working hard to make things happen.”

Milk Gallery’s grand-opening group show is titled Cooking Up Something Real Good, and it includes a lengthy roster of local creators, such as Jack Alvarez, Jeffrey DeVore, Gioia Fonda, Gale Hart, Gerald Heffernon, Peter Stegall, Eddie Stein and Matthew Tucker—to name just a few.
