Coffee Milk Stout, Stone Brewing Co.

Here’s a maybe surprising pairing: coffee and beer. Try the recent release of Stone’s Coffee Milk Stout. Brewer Brian Gallagher whipped up this formula using English-style malts and coffee beans from the San Diego-based Ryan Bros. Coffee. Then, he added milk sugar to balance out the bitterness. The outcome is a creamy, light-bodied stout with a hint of sweetness—and the aroma and taste of quality coffee. Pick up a six-pack at BevMo, Sacramento Natural Foods Co-op and other places you’d find craft beer, for about $10. www.stonebrewing.com.
