This week inaugurates a new series of staged readings (by local actors) of short stories (by local writers). Stories on Stage is a great idea, and the lineup for Friday’s show is impeccable. Local veteran of the stage Martha Omiyo Kight will read “Talking Fowl With My Father,” a short story from Lori Ostlund’s debut collection, The Bigness of the World. Eric Baldwin (fresh from a run in Glengarry Glen Ross at Big Idea Theatre) will read “Toll Booth” by Adam Russ. A suggested donation of $5 is requested; the reading is at the Sacramento Poetry Center, 1719 25th Street; at 7:30 p.m. If you’ve never seen a dramatic reading, don’t miss this one.
