Late-breaking lunch

Looking for something to do this weekend? You can still snag tickets for a chance to see UC Davis’ historic Wolfskill Ranch (4334 Putah Creek Road, Winters)—and this event is just about the only such chance all year. There’ll be a tour and lunch (Saturday, October 11, from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.) under ancient, gnarled olive trees, co-sponsored by the UC Davis Olive Center, Slow Food Yolo and the Yolo County Agricultural Marketing Initiative. You get a tasting of regional olive oil, a lunch with items like Wolfskill-grown figs stuffed with walnuts and macerated in cider; Capay lamb; and walnut and almond pies, also from Wolfskill’s bounty. It’s $90 for Slow Food members, $100 for others (and you get a bottle of Davis’ acclaimed olive oil as part of the admission). To get tickets, visit http://brownpapertickets.com/event/43681, the Davis Food Co-op or Steady Eddy’s Coffee & Juice Bar in Winters.
