California's Proposition 37, a referendum that would have required genetically engineered foods to be labeled as such, failed by a narrow margin in the November election. But the statewide proposition drummed up national support to promote the labeling of genetically modified organisms. Just Label It, a national campaign consisting of a number of small farms, scientists and food companies, is raising awareness about the environmental and health impacts of GMOs. It is also lobbying the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in support of the right to know about GMOs in our food. For more information, visit www.justlabelit.org.
