Jeff Price to speak at Sac State

An award-winning environmental scientist will discuss measures to prevent major ecosystem changes caused by global warming during a lecture at Sacramento State. Jeff Price, a professor at CSU Chico, is a scientist on the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and part of the team that shared the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize with Al Gore. He served as a lead author of the IPCC’s report on climate change, released this year, which predicts that many plant and animal species will likely be at a higher risk of extinction if global warming continues unchecked.

“The extinction message is one of the most significant in the report,” Price said in a press release. “The accelerating risk of extinction for species—and we’ve only studied a small fraction of the species of the world—should be of great concern to everyone.”

Price’s lecture takes place at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, December 5, in the University Union’s Hinde Auditorium.
