Footloose tears up the town
Only a terrific cast and wonderful dancing could make a hit out of this rather silly show. But, under the direction of Crissi Cairns and choreography of Kevin Gruwell, that’s what the Woodland Opera House has done just that in this take on the 1984 Kevin Bacon classic of the same name. This story of a small town whose minister has banned all dancing following a tragic accident that took four lives seems unlikely, as does the arrival of a lonely teenager who changes the town forever. But add a lively cast, and one can’t help but be charmed. 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 2 p.m. Sunday, $7-$25. Woodland Opera House, 304 Second Street in Woodland, (530) 666-9617, http://www.woodlandoperahouse.org/. Through September 14.
