Here they come a-wassailing

Let loose this winter solstice and get smudged.

Let loose this winter solstice and get smudged.

Hark, the herald pagans sing. And thank goddess, because those usual Christmas tunes were annoying. Wassailers from Sacramento Grove of the Oak, a group of Druids, Wiccans and other pagans, will dress in bright, magical attire and head wreaths, jam on drums and jingle bells all the way through Midtown on Sunday, December 21. They’ll also have a ritual, potluck and gift exchange after the procession. So, this winter solstice, it’s OK to be emo, especially for those who check out the Deep Dark Winter Soul-stice Practice on Saturday, December 20, at It’s All Yoga. It’s a chance to wear dark clothes, sit in front of a candle’s flame and reflect on the darkness of winter and, for those who can’t hack it, the light to come. Whoa, now that’s deep.
