Dress local (and party, too)

Ten local designers will join together at Faces in the heart of Midtown’s Lavender Heights district this Friday for a glittering fashion show, raucous party, and a celebration of diversity, art, expression, equality, community, fashion and—of course—strong drinks.

An Evening of Illustrious Fashion boasts a maelstrom of talent billed as the Couturians: Sacramento’s diversified collective of local fashion designers Richard Hallmarq, Pretty Trashy, Tomicko Abella, Monte Christo, Benzo Couture, Dee Aguilar, Lacadia Olsen, Lauren Oto, Steven Willey and the Vittore Brothers. The Couturians’ fashion show will feature quite the array of wares, from Pretty Trashy’s quirky reconstructed and screenprinted vintage designs to Dee Aguilar’s slinky metallic clubwear. Few will walk away uninspired, most will stay for the just-try-not-dance tunes from eminent DJ Shaun Slaughter. The event’s program also features host Bobby Trendy, the perpetually corsage-encrusted gay reality TV star and interior designer for the late Anna Nicole Smith. Following the spectacle, shop for a piece of runway action when the event closes with a designer trunk sale.

In other words, if this is your idea of fun, be sure to advise any overanxious housemates not to wait up.
