Whether you prefer fixed gears or BMX, all cycling enthusiasts can witness the bicycle expressed through different mediums such as film, music and art at the 10th annual Bicycle Film Festival. Originating in New York City, the BFF started in 2001 after founder and director Brendt Barbur was hit by a bus while riding his bicycle. The accident inspired him to turn his painful experience into a worldwide gathering of people celebrating two-wheel transportation. It has since been showcased in major global cities such as Tokyo, Amsterdam and London, and is now coming to Sacramento’s Fremont Park. Hot Italian will kick off the event with a pre-party, followed by bicycle short films and, of course, an afterparty. Other activities to catch during the weekend include an Art in Public Places scavenger hunt, via bicycle, of course, and the feature film Where Are You Go, directed by Benny Zenga and Brian Vernor. The weekend finishes with the Amgen Tour of California, where people can enjoy the fruits of the beer garden, live music and a view of cyclists along P Street. Bicycle valet will be provided by Friends of Fremont Park all three days.

The Bicycle Film Festival will be Friday, May 14, through Sunday, May 16; free; , 16th and Q streets; www.bicyclefilmfestival.com/sacramento.
