Fri., April 19, Xochitl

Luna's Café & Juice Bar, 8:30 p.m., $6

Xochitl (pronounced “so-chee”) is a young local singer-songwriter who has enticed Sacramento audiences with her strong, confident voice and heart-on-the-sleeve lyrical content. “The Chico Song” is a cute, whimsical song about her dog, but also an honest account of what their relationship is like—which surely a lot of people can relate to (“Gettin' kinda sleepy / you peak inside my room … We lay down on the couch / You get real close to me / Watch a little Glee / and then we fall asleep”). She holds her own alone on stage with just an acoustic guitar and her vocal chords, though she has plans to one day move to Los Angeles and round up a backing band. 1414 16th Street, www.facebook.com/xochitlofficial.
