The River Cats are a contender for the Pacific Coast League title, and if they want additional inspiration as they reach for the top, they need only look to their ballpark’s namesake. , the homegrown supermarket chain with 83 stores in California, Nevada and New Mexico, was named the top supermarket in the nation in the September issue of Consumer Reports. The respected consumer magazine drew from 25,000 responses to the magazine’s 2002 reader survey, which rated 52 supermarkets, super centers, specialty markets and warehouse clubs nationwide. Though Raley’s received an average rating for prices, the readers considered the supermarket to be above average in checkout speed and cleanliness and superior in the helpfulness of staff. In addition, Raley’s received the survey’s highest rankings for the quality of meat and produce. We congratulate Raley’s for the honor and wish our boys well in the playoffs. Let’s go, Cats! Raley’s has multiple locations in town.
