Are the members of Cherub serious? The low-key electro-funky beats and Prince-copy-cat falsetto vocals contrast very bizarrely with the smart-alecky lyrics and silly music videos. It’s kind of a surprise this Nashville two-piece has gained such mainstream-level attention. It’s a testament to the Internet viral-video age. Their 2014 track, “Doses and Mimosas,” is pushing 6 million views. It’s the kind of sarcastic raunch-fest that would have never been a Top 40 hit on radio, but tickles people’s funny bone when they’re going down the YouTube rabbit hole. It’s damn catchy, too.
