Eight Gigs: Baby Bash

Thurs., July 30, 9 p.m., Harlow’s Restaurant & Nightclub, $25-$30

Vallejo's Baby Bash has been dropping hits since big jeans, gaudy aviators and velvet sweatsuits were “tight.” Since 2001, Bash has unleashed enough bangers to keep the chaperones busy at my middle-school dances. The irresistible guitar licks on “Suga Suga” combined with his undulating flow and Frankie J's butter-smooth hook dominated the airwaves. After other hits like “Cyclone” with T-Pain and “Baby, I'm Back” with Akon, Bash got into business, sponsoring the female-friendly energy drink Go Girl, named after one of his singles. After a long musical drought, the blue-eyed rap-crooner burst back with “Certified Freak,” his bassy ode to twerking baddies who are down to get nasty. 2708 J Street, www.facebook.com/babybash.
