Dig it and swap it

Now this is good dirt.

Leaves may still be falling, but it is time to start planning for spring gardens. The Sacramento Library will host a free class to help wannabe green thumbs explore blogs, newsletters, Web sites and government sources for information about soil, climate and garden design. It will be Saturday, January 2, from 10:15 to 11:45 a.m. at the Central branch, 828 I Street. Also, the Sacramento Area Community Garden Coalition will present info about swapping homegrown crops and how to get neighborhood groups involved. The event is free and will be Tuesday, January 5, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Shepard Garden and Arts Center in McKinley Park, 3330 McKinley Boulevard.
