Coffee and chocolate

Midtown’s Old Soul Co. has plenty of attractions—fresh-roasted coffee, delectable baked goods like buttery chocolate croissants, and that vaunted $2-for-everything pricing policy among them—but now there’s one more. Ginger Elizabeth’s Couture Chocolates have moved into a corner of the open work space. As with Old Soul’s coffee and baked goods lines, the chocolatier mainly will be doing a wholesale business, but assortments of her chocolates will be available at the counter as well, starting in early December. They’ll break loose from the pricing policy—Old Soul co-owner Jason Griest says chocolate prices will run from $12 to $15, depending on the assortment—but it’s all in a good cause. A chance to nibble refined, perfect chocolates, along with an exemplary cappuccino, while hanging out in the coziest alley space in town? Sounds like a soulful match to me. 1716 L Street, rear alley; (916) 443-7685
