Lichi Fuentes with guitar in hand.

When Chilean artist Lichi Fuentes was 6 years old, she contracted an illness that left her bedridden for months. To keep her entertained, her parents bought her a tiny guitar. Her older sister taught her to form chords, and, by the time she was healthy again, she was also a budding singer-songwriter. Throughout the years, Fuentes has worked with numerous choirs and bands in the Bay Area and Chile. Now, for the first time, Fuentes has made a solo album, Quien Soy—Who I Am. Celebrate the CD’s release with a concert at Luna’s Café on Saturday at 8 p.m. Fuentes will play original material and traditional South American music, accompanied by Argentinean guitarist Hugo Wainzinger and flutist Donna Viscuso from Connecticut. Admission is $10. Luna’s is located at 1414 16th Street. Call (916) 441-3931 or visit www.lichifuentes.com for more information.
