Capitol Beer and Tap Room's Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. dinner is this Wednesday

Capitol Beer and Tap Room is an exciting addition to Sacramento's ever-growing craft-beer scene. It has 20 taps, all of which rotate. Its focus is California-brewed beer, but it will occasionally feature a far-flung brewer, such as Denmark's Mikkeller. The taproom also features a well-stocked bottle shop. One remarkable thing about Capitol Beer is that it has an unusual arrangement with sushi spot Tokyo Fro’s, which is housed in the same strip mall: Capitol Beer's special menu of bar snacks and entrees are prepared in and brought over from Tokyo Fro's kitchen. Taproom owner Ken Hotchkiss said he asked the restaurant to formulate “beer-specific foods,” and that it has modified the menu over time. Right now, offerings includes grilled cheese with bacon, fries, bratwurst and lumpia—which is already on the menu at Tokyo Fro's. Capitol Beer is also planning events, such as a food-and-beer-pairing dinner prepared by the chef from Sierra Nevada Brewing Co., which coincides with the release of the brewery's Hoptimum Imperial IPA. In case the hearty food doesn't temper the alcohol-by-volume effect of the beer, Capitol Beer is a (mostly) pleasant bike ride from downtown. The Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. food-and-beer-pairing dinner and Hoptimum Imperial IPA release is on Wednesday, April 24, at5 p.m. at Capitol Beer and Tap Room, 2222 Fair Oaks Boulevard; (916) 922-1745; http://capitolbeer.com.
