Caffeine Olympics

Brazil stole the Olympics, and now they want to take over our morning pick-me-up. And I will gladly let them, because the new Brazilian beans featured at a few local coffeehouses are top-notch. Benjamin Lance of Temple Coffee Roasterie’s (2829 S Street) notes that Brazil is “one of the biggest exporters of coffee worldwide,” from Folgers to the micro-lot beans at Temple. “The ‘typical flavor characteristics’ of Brazilian coffee are what the majority of coffee lovers enjoy in their cup: medium-bodied, with nuances of various nuts, chocolates and citrus,” Lance explains. Temple now serves Santa Colomba coffee from Daterra Farms.
