Anton = Santa

Anton is Santa spelled sideways, or something like that: Mr. Barbeau, wearing his affection for the cheese state.

Christmas Eve is not particularly known as a great date to go out and catch live music, unless your tastes run toward the ecclesiastical. But don’t tell Anton Barbeau that. The eccentric singer-songwriter, a longtime fixture in the local music scene, will perform on Tuesday, December 24, starting around 9 p.m., with “friends.” At press time, only the Groovie Ghoulies’ Kepi has signed on, but more will be added. Barbeau is selling a limited-edition CD titled Will Bevis for Frond, to help cover the costs for recording King of Missouri, the forthcoming disc he recorded in England with Nick Saloman, better known as the Bevis Frond. The venue is the True Love Coffeehouse at 2406 J Street. All ages are welcome, and, best of all, there’s no cover charge.
