The Bounty Hunter

Rated 2.0

Jennifer Aniston and Gerard Butler make for an agonizing and unconvincing screen pair in this routine road comedy that goes nowhere. When Aniston’s journalist fails to show for a court date because she is investigating a lead, she is pursued by a bounty hunter (Butler) who just happens to be her ex-husband. The ridiculous and unlikely premise isn’t helped by the fact that the two have no screen chemistry. The idea that their two characters were ever married never takes root, and I found myself wishing that they would just go their separate ways already. Aniston has some comedic chops, but is often lousy at picking her projects. Butler simply drives me crazy with his shitty American accents. There’s nothing in this movie that helps to distinguish it from countless other films with similar plots.
