Music for many tastes

Though it’s only been in existence a short time, The Upstage Center Theatre in Carson City is presenting some of the most creative and eclectic regional and national music around. Friday, Feb. 8, Reno duo The Smokin’ Franklins will open for guitarist Todd Ballowe, and Saturday, Feb. 9, acoustic folk-rock band Playa Papaya (pictured) will perform. Blue Moon: Grass Roots II, a concert featuring Richard Elloyan and Beans Sousa, will follow on Feb. 16. On Feb. 17, enjoy the onstage humor and musical mastery of David Lindley, who is best known for his decade playing with Jackson Browne. Also coming up: Kat Simmons Comedy Theatre on Feb. 22 and The Unauthorized Rolling Stones on Feb. 23. Tickets range from $8 to $20. Visit www.TheUpstageCenter.net or call 882-8900.
