Get money to study

Are you an undergraduate in need of some cash with a major or minor in Women’s Studies? The Jean Ford Women’s Studies Fund can help. Jean Ford, as a member of the Nevada Legislature during the 1970s and 1980s, advocated for women and minorities and the removal of discrimination in the workplace. She went on to become a director of the University of Nevada, Reno, Women’s Studies Program and helped bring community awareness to an area of study that had been disregarded in previous years. Today, many of the leading women of Nevada claim, “If it weren’t for Jean Ford, I wouldn’t be doing what I’m doing now.” Ford will be remembered in a scholarship that bears her name, open to undergraduates with a major or minor in Women’s Studies at the UNR. To request an application, call 784-1560 or e-mail womenstudies@unr.edu. The application deadline is Feb. 28.
