Take a swing
It’s the bottom of the ninth, the bases are loaded and the score is 5-4. The count is full, and your little slugger at the plate watches the last pitch speed toward him. He swings, he misses, and he loses the game. Do you have dreams of living vicariously through your child’s athletic glory? Then don’t let your kid miss a chance to fine-tune his or her skills. The Sparks Parks and Recreation Department is offering indoor hitting and pitching camps for ages 10 to 18. Reed High School coaches will give your kids individual attention to hone baseball skills. The camps will be held Sundays starting Jan. 27 at Reed High School, 1350 Baring Blvd. in Sparks. The hitting camp begins at 9 a.m. and the pitching camp starts at 1 p.m. Each camp is $17 per session for Sparks residents and $20 for non-residents. Call 353-2376.
