Unemployment woes a top worry

Americans haven’t been this concerned over jobs in decades

President Obama and congressional Democrats recently made it clear that a jobs bill is the top legislative priority, and that news is right on target when it comes to the nation’s concerns. Not since the early ’80s have Americans been so focused on unemployment issues. According to a recent Gallup poll, the percentage of Americans citing unemployment as the country’s most important problem (31 percent) has nearly doubled since December. The same percentage named the economy in general as the country’s most important issue. Other worries included health care and education.
