Trump trade war has consequences for consumers

After the Trump administration launched a trade war with China, Mexico and Canada, NPR began tracking how that (and China’s retaliatory tariffs) might impact consumers. The news organization just reported its findings after price-checking 80 products each month at a Walmart in Liberty County, Ga., from August 2018-19. The news isn’t good: There was an average price increase of 3 percent, almost double the current inflation rate. Here are some of the top price increases and decreases, broken down by product.
