Surprise! It’s another election!

Deadline to register to vote is May 4

If you’re planning on voting in the May 19 special statewide election and aren’t registered, you need to register by May 4.

You knew there was an election coming up, right? Apparently legislators and the governor thought having three elections in 2008 wasn’t enough and decided to put another on the ballot in May 2009.

You didn’t know about it? Don’t fret, you’re not alone. But help is on the way.

Next week, on May 7, the CN&R will have a story explaining the initiatives on the ballot—there are no candidates to vote on—and will offer its recommendations.

Don’t wait until then to register, because if you do you’ll be registering for some other election months or even years in the future, not the May 19 election, and you don’t want to miss that, do you?

(You don’t. Really. Billions of dollars and a balanced state budget are at stake.)
