Starlet named eco-warrior

Natalie Portman’s tree-hugging ways have earned the pint-sized Hollywood beauty top billing on a list of the most eco-friendly celebrities, reported Marie Claire.

The honor comes from environmental commentary Web site Grist.org, which has taken note of Portman’s commitment to save gorillas (she traveled to Rwanda for a documentary on endangered Silverback gorillas) and encouraging the use of compact fluorescent lights. The 26-year-old vegan is also credited for her line of animal-free shoes.

Meanwhile, folks over at Grist have taken other stars to task over their less-than-friendly carbon footprints. Soccer pro David Beckham, Elizabeth Hurley and the Spice Girls rounded out the worst of the worst—all of them for excessive air travel.
