Shalom on the move

The Shalom Free Clinic Thrift Store and clinic itself are moving to new locations. Circulating rumors suggest the store may be moving from its current location at 250 E. First St. to the vacancy left by the closing of the Towne Lounge at 327 Main St.

A spokeswoman for the clinic said that employees were not yet able to comment on the moves, but that even though the new location is only “two blocks away” from the current one, they are still facing resistance from other downtown business owners who are afraid that the store will attract the “wrong kind of crowd.” No word on the future location of the clinic, but it will be announced before the end of the year.
