Reward offered for finding thieves

Missing CN&Rs last week prompt police investigation

The CN&R made news this week, when a dozen or so stacks of newspapers went missing immediately following the publication of last week’s issue. We’ve filed a police report noting the missing papers at locations around downtown—such as the post office, Jamba Juice and Garden Walk Mall—and in north Chico near Tinseltown.

The thefts may have been linked to the cover story last week (“Sex, drugs and guns”) exposing wrongdoing in Tehama County’s juvenile hall.

The newspaper is seeking help in finding and prosecuting the one or ones responsible for the thefts, with a $1,000 reward as incentive for someone to speak up.

While the thefts are disturbing, the perpetrators didn’t make much of a dent in the CN&R’s more than 650 distribution points around Butte County.
