RALLY FOR THE PLANET

Post-climate-conference event draws upward of 1,000 to Chico City Plaza

Chico 350 estimates upward of 1,000 people came down to City Plaza on Saturday, Dec. 12, during the High Noon for the Planet rally it organized in collaboration with the Butte Environmental Council. The event featured speeches, live music, interactive games, booths with representatives from various eco-friendly companies and information on how people can reduce their carbon footprint and help mitigate global warming. To that end, attendees were asked to set their own goals—like going solar, reducing meat consumption and using alternative transportation. The rally marked the conclusion of the 2015 U.N. climate talks in Paris, which refocused international efforts to battle climate change.
