Pot legalization increasingly supported

Majority of Americans say weed should be legal

An overwhelming majority (67 percent) of Americans thinks the “war on drugs” has been a failure, but that doesn’t mean our country wants to see a society in which drug use is readily accepted either. That’s because a similar majority (64 percent) believes that America has a serious problem when it comes to drug use. Still, an increasing number of us (55 percent) do support the legalization of marijuana, according to a recent poll by Angus Reid Public Opinion, which surveyed approximately 1,000 respondents on their support of the legalization of pot and other drugs. That’s up from 52 percent in 2010.
