Pot legalization increasingly supported
Majority of Americans say weed should be legal
An overwhelming majority (67 percent) of Americans thinks the “war on drugs” has been a failure, but that doesn’t mean our country wants to see a society in which drug use is readily accepted either. That’s because a similar majority (64 percent) believes that America has a serious problem when it comes to drug use. Still, an increasing number of us (55 percent) do support the legalization of marijuana, according to a recent poll by Angus Reid Public Opinion, which surveyed approximately 1,000 respondents on their support of the legalization of pot and other drugs. That’s up from 52 percent in 2010.
Here’s how the support study shakes out, based on political party:<style type="text/css"> </style>
