Pitt and Bing pledge bling

Hollywood heartthrob Brad Pitt is calling upon the wealthy, from companies to individuals, to pony up enough dough to rebuild part of an area wiped out by Hurricane Katrina.

Last week, the A-list actor toured New Orleans’ Lower 9th Ward, promoting his Make It Right foundation and the lofty goal of building 150 environmentally friendly homes, reported USA Today. Pitt and billionaire Steve Bing have reportedly pledged to match up to $5 million each of their own money for the project.

The program needs $22.5 million to accomplish its plan and has thus far taken in $2 million. Earlier this year, the actor teamed up with environmental group Global Green USA on another New Orleans housing project involving ecologically sound designs.
