Healthful restaurants on the Ridge

Program recognizes local restaurants offering heart-healthy options

Feather River Hospital and Loma Linda-based Coronary Health Improvement Project (CHIP) are together introducing a new program in hopes of improving community health in the Paradise area.

The CHIP-Approved Restaurant Program recognizes ridge restaurants that offer at least five items on their menus that conform to CHIP health guidelines, according to a Feather River Hospital press release. Restaurants meeting standards will be included in a CHIP-Approved Restaurant Directory, which will be distributed to the Paradise Chamber of Commerce and local businesses. They will also receive a window decal identifying them as a restaurant meeting CHIP’s requirements. So far, two restaurants—the Comeback Diner in Paradise and Jaki’s Hilltop Café in Magalia—have made the grade.

The national CHIP program, which aims to improve eating habits and heart health, has been operating in Paradise for 11 years. Learn more about CHIP at www.chiphealth.com.
