Cops bust bag-hooded man

Chico police arrest knife-wielding would-be convenience store robber

Chico police responded to a call about a paper-bag-hooded man holding a knife and peering through cut-out eye holes into the downtown 7-Eleven Wednesday morning.

According to a Chico Police Department press release, the man rode away on a bicycle when officers arrived at the convenience store at just before 2 a.m. Police say employees found the man hiding in the store with a knife. He complied when asked to leave and was found by police a few blocks away. He's identified as 23-year-old Steven Brannon.

Brannon, who had a warrant out for his arrest, was riding a stolen mountain bike. He was transported to Butte County Jail and is charged with attempted armed robbery, possession of stolen property and resisting arrest.
