Chico police pick up one suspected bank robber, but another is still at large

Detectives with the Chico Police Department are looking for a man who robbed the Tri Counties Bank on East Avenue mid-day Monday (April 5) at the branch located within the Save Mart supermarket.

According to the CPD, the suspect did not brandish a weapon but did threaten to shoot if the teller did not comply with his note demanding cash. The man was handed cash and ran away from the store.

He was wearing a dark-colored stocking cap, camouflage-patterned jacket and dark jeans, and is described as white, about 6 feet tall, in his early 20s, slender, with a fair complexion and light stubble. Anyone with information is asked to contact CPD at 897-4911.

The robbery follows the arrest Thursday (April 1) of 35-year-old Oroville resident Shawn Webber in an unrelated hold-up at a Chico Wells Fargo (inside of Raley’s) on March 16. Det. Scott Harris is credited with identifying Webber, who allegedly robbed three other banks, including another Wells Fargo in Grass Valley.
