Image awards As the editor of the arts section here at the CN&R, Arts DEVO is never happier than when he gets his hands on a piece of art that perfectly complements the story. Many of the photos we use for profiles and previews come from press kits, but the best and most effective images are taken by the photographers who take the assignments and give back something thoughtful and artful in return. There were a lot of memorable shots taken for the arts section in 2011—mostly by our regular photogs Matt Siracusa and Kyle Delmar (but also a handful by our contributors and editors). Enjoy DEVO’s five faves (see Delmar’s shot of Café R&B vocalist Roach on the front cover):

One of many images from Delmar’s own interactive cross sculpture, part of The Jesus Show at RayRay Gallery reviewed in the Dec. 15 issue (“Sacred Art”).
