Wing me, bro

The promise of more than 40,000 chicken wings beckons at the third annual Sactown Wings festival. From 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 31, stuff your face with chicken and beer surrounded by live music, games and other lovers of the staple bar snack. Broderick Roadhouse, home to the East Coast-style, roasted-then-fried, whole jumbo wings, took first place last year for best overall wing. That team will return to defend its title against 12 other competitors, including Fire Wings, Kupros Craft House, Evan’s Kitchen and Adamo’s Kitchen. Rumor has it that Barwest is gunning real hard to take back its best hot wings title from Chicago Fire as well. It’s also your first chance to try grub from Highwater, the concept taking over Pour House, before it opens in August. General tickets cost $10 in advance, $15 at the door, but you’ll have to buy all your food. An advance $45 ticket gets you early entry, 20 wings and voting rights. More at www.sactownwings.com.
