When We Were Colored: A Mother’s Story

Rated 5.0

This original play by Sacramentan Ginger Rutland, based on a memoir by her mother Eva Rutland, is the history of an African-American family moving from the segregated South to Sacramento in the early 1950s and finding that things are tough all over, and one must persevere to succeed. An excellent cast and a talented director bring the story to life.
