Waiter Rant: Thanks for the Tip—Confessions of a Cynical Waiter

The Waiter, Steve Dublanica

If you’ve ever paid $30 for Kobe beef with baby greens, tomatillos and served on a ciabatta roll only to find you just ordered a regular hamburger, then you’ll be prepared for Waiter Rant. The critically acclaimed blog of the same name is full of beautiful and ghastly tales of the food-service industry, and most media hype would have you believe the book is more of the same. Unfortunately, what you get is a story of an above-average waiter trying to become an average writer. Dublanica even goes so far as to include a conversation with a co-worker who proclaims he should write a book. There are some good stories sprinkled in that give a unique view of a waiter’s life, but not enough to call this anything more than an ordinary hamburger.
