It’s always about the heat in Sacramento. This time of year, it’s about how to get more. Doiron Gallery, at 1819 Del Paso Boulevard, offers a visual respite from the cold, rain and fog. Acrylic paintings by Daphne Stammer exude warmth—mostly in reds, oranges and earthy tones that pump out the heat. Although those hues are often delineated with some hard-edged, block-like lines, the overall effect is an organic one. Ultimately, these pieces conjure up images of dramatic, sun-drenched, iron-rich rock formations—like those in the Southwest that pierce the earth’s crust and rise up to provide a stark contrast to the azure sky. Stammer exposes the strata of sediment weathered under the elements and baked in the sun, but she also reveals the layering of civilizations. Showing until February 5, Portals and Pathways will warm you up from the inside out. For more information, call (916) 564-4433.
