Up for a bit with the Squish

One of the more promising local CD debuts to stumble across the review desk recently was How to Get to Heaven from Davis duo SquishTheBadMan. In its best moments, the disc evoked the great 1980s northern English combo Prefab Sprout, which certainly is not a bad thing. Wondering what Squish sounds like live, and whether it can live up to the CD’s Watchtower-quality cover art, we noticed that the duo will play Luna’s Café this Friday, May 30, opening for Local Honey and St. Simon 3. The following night (Saturday, May 31), David Houston will play the same stage, with “friends”—and he’s got a lot of those, so you never know who will turn up. Luna’s is located at 1414 16th Street, both events start at 9 p.m., and the cover charge on both nights is $5.
