We live in an age of dinosaurs—chirping, fluttering creatures also known as birds. OK, most people aren’t running in fear from these dinosaur descendents, unless they’re fans of Alfred Hitchcock. The Great Backyard Bird Count, where Audubon enthusiasts can help scientists document and count species of birds, will be Friday, February 12 through Monday, February 15 in, well, your backyard. Beginners can join a variety of counting groups in the Sacramento area, while advanced bird-watchers can download a tally sheet from www.birdcount.org.
