Too much to dream last night

Insomnia (The Night Walkers)

J.R. Johansson's young-adult novel, Insomnia (The Night Walkers) (Flux, $9.99), is a thriller with a very small supernatural twist. Parker Chipp doesn't snore or sleepwalk—so far as he knows—but he does immediately enter the dream of the last person he's looked in the eye. Not only does he get access to the weird things in other people's dreams, he doesn't get the REM sleep so necessary to mental and physical health. When a new girl in town, Mia, has dreams that are quiet and serene, Parker experiences the first decent rest he's known in years. Unfortunately, his obsession with her—and with looking into her eyes every afternoon—makes him come off as a creepy stalker guy, which is what he seems to be becoming. Insomnia features an honest, youthful voice with an edge of desperation.
