Titus

Rated 4.0 A visual masterpiece. One of Shakespeare’s clunkier plays comes to the screen with grand style, thanks to visionary work by director Julie Taymor and powerhouse acting from Anthony Hopkins in the title role. Taymor mixes ancient Roman visuals with modern touches to create something totally unique and entertaining, even when the Bard’s original source material gets a bit ridiculous. Much has been said about the gore in this one, but it’s not overwhelming. Some portions don’t work, but you have to toast the director for everything she attempts. This one is a party for the eyes.
