They are maniacs. Not literally, but that’s the acronym a Facebook group of artists chose to call themselves: Multi-media Artist Network Idea exchange and Collaboration. OK, so there’s an unaccounted “E” in there, but don’t hold that against the online collective. Members sent in work from both coasts, Europe and Australia to be exhibited here in Sacramento (and in Stockton in July), organized by Andy Cunningham, “just a guy in California who wants to put on a show.” Without any of that fancy art-gallery insurance, to boot. The group initiated in 2009 in Connecticut, and Cunningham says it now contains 125 to 130 members. He also says that the East Coast founders will be flying out for the show, as will two of the international members, Roland Orépük from France and Wahida Azhari from Germany. And those MANIACs compiled their work in a book, too, Maniac: Manic Episode 2, available at www.blurb.com.
