The Hot Chick

Rated 1.0 A pair of magic earrings causes a snotty high school cheerleader (Rachel McAdams) to switch bodies with a small-time thief (Rob Schneider). That’s all there is to the script by Schneider and director Tom Brady; what follows is a series of crude jokes about being a teenage girl in a 30-year-old man’s body, with a few (too-brief) scenes of him in her body. Not surprisingly, the movie spends more time with Schneider than with newcomer McAdams, even though her performance is more interesting (and funnier) than his. Another promising performance comes from Anna Faris as the cheerleader’s best friend (who finds herself attracted to “her” new body). But the promise is slight and not enough; Faris and McAdams may be going places, but this movie is about Schneider, and, unfortunately, he’s not going anywhere.
