The five-minute marathon

Sure, you want the glory of the marathon—the sweating, the cheering, the sense of accomplishment as you cross the finish line—but really, 26 miles? That’s asking a lot! For those of you whose strength lies in speed rather than endurance, try Fleet Feet’s Capitol Mile. The event is a series of one-mile races for kids and adults. The heats are organized by age and gender, and there’s even a “Clydesdale Heat” for men over 200 pounds. Spectators can view the entire race from a single seat. Winners take home cash prizes.
